On Lacy Pool, an intriguing lineup (piano-trombone-drums) revistist what might one day become standards - 10 compositions penned
by Steve Lacy. Uwe Oberg's angular lines, Christof Thewes' soaring trombone and drummer Michael Griener's clever support help
bring out the joy that inhabits those pieces. Their truculent nods at Dixieland or Thelonious Monk are a reminder of how both influences
informed the late soprano sax player's development. They never get lost in a meditative state, because Oberg and company's mood is
definetely more celebratory than mournful. To sum up, this is an excellent addition to the recent tributes paid to Lacy's legacy that will

*1962, Klavier seit 1970. Mitglied der Kooperative New Jazz (ARTist) Wiesbaden, seit den frühen 80ern Arbeit im Bereich Jazz / Improvisierte Musik,
Performances mit Tanz, Theater, Lyrik, Stummfilmmusik (u.a. für das Deutsche Filminstitut). Zahlreiche Funkmitschnitte, internationale Konzerte.
Komposition für verschiedene Ensembles.
Neben dem UWE OBERG TRIO und Solo-Konzerten spielt er im Trio mit FRANK PAUL SCHUBERT und GÜNTER BABY SOMMER, im Duo mit EVAN PARKER,
und verschiedenen anderen Projekten.

CHRISTOF THEWES Posaune
arbeitet als Posaunist, Komponist, Arrangeur und Instrumentallehrer. Verschiedene Ensembles und Musikprojekte von Solo bis Big Band, zwischen
modernem Jazz, freier Improvisation und Neuer Musik bis hin zu experimenteller Rock, Funk + Popmusik.
Konzerte in ganz Europa, Auftragskompositionen für Rundfunk.
Seit 2000 Dozent für Posaune im Aufbaustudiengang Jazz an der Musikhochschule Saarbrücken.
Arbeitet mit: Rudi Mahall, Wollie Kaiser, Jürgen Wuchner, Gabriele Hasler, Claudio Puntin, Roger Hanschel, Albert Mangelsdorff, Han Bennink, Daisy Becker,
Georg Ruby, Ralph Beerkircher, Jimmy Woody, Frank Wingold, Adam Pyronzcyk, Dieter Manderscheid, Jörn Schipper, Jochen Krämer, Oliver Strauch,
Gunter Hampel u.v.a. Mitglied im GLOBE UNITY ORCHESTRA. Thewes erhielt im November 2007 den Jazzpreis der Stadt Worms.

MICHAEL GRIENER Schlagzeug
geb. 1968 in Nürnberg, lebt seit 1994 in Berlin .
früh intensive Beschäftigung mit den vielfältigen Formen der Jazztradition, der Freien Improvisation und Neuer Musik; längere Zusammenarbeit mit Günter
Christmann in verschiedenen Vario-Projekten. Internationale Konzerttätigkeit. Sein Duo KIMMO ELOMAA mit dem Live-Elektroniker Jayrope wurde 2001 mit
einem Förderpreis des Berliner Senats ausgezeichnet. Unterrichtet Schlagzeug an der Musikhochschule Dresden.
